This extensive project area lies in the Narromine district under variable sedimentary cover of the Great Australian Basin east of the Tottenham copper district and within the northern part of the highly prospective Parkes Structural Zone, refer Figure 3.

The following activities were achieved in the March, 2010 quarter:

  • Consultant geophysicist Dr Peter Gunn completed a compilation and interpretation of geophysical and geological data in the Narromine district.
  • A review of existing government and company exploration reports in this district was commenced.
  • Interesources Pty ltd conducted Stage IV sampling of selected soil anomalous zones within EL7022 – Area 1.

The licenses have been significantly upgraded by a regional geophysical metallogenic assessment that shows the anomalous Au, As and Cu soil geochemistry defined by Claymor, occurs above strong bedrock magnetic trends commonly associated with the porphyry Cu-Au prospective Macquarie Arc Volcanics.

Review of previous exploration company and Government drilling data around Claymor’s licenses has indicated that altered volcanics and monzonitic-dioritic intrusives similar to those at the Cadia Cu-Au mine, lie at depths between 100 and 300m in this district.

At present Claymor is targeting the shallower bedrock units in the western portion of EL 7022 – A1 Area 1 along the Bogan River, refer Figures 3 and 4. In this area Stage III (250m sample spacing) geochemistry defined anomalies coincident with recently interpreted structures and possible magnetic depletion (alteration) zones in Ordovician and Lower Devonian volcanic basement.

A number of the main anomalies lie along NW trending structures defined by mafic volcanic units in the predominant Girilambone sediments. This association is typical of the nearby Tottenham and Albert copper deposits and more regionally the Tritton VMS mine.

Stage IV detailed soil surveys (at 100m centres) of the three best Stage III anomalous zones were conducted during the Quarter with a total of 647 samples being processed. However the results are not yet finalised due to analytical delays in Russia.

The following work is planned for the June 2010 quarter:

  • It is expected that following receipt of the geochemical data several specific target areas will be selected for ground geophysical surveys to define associated sulphide zones in bedrock.
  • Resultant key associated geochemical and geophysical anomalies will then be tested by reverse circulation/diamond drilling.
